Kick the habit: Towards a low carbon economy
The effect of heat trapping due to increasing presence of greenhouse gases (carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxides, chloroflurocarbons, hydrochlorofluorocarbons) in the earth atmosphere is known as greenhouse effect or global warming and this causes change in the global climate. According to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) CO2 concentration of the atmosphere at present is 360 ppm as against 280 ppm in the 1750. It has been predicted that by the year 2100, projected CO2 concentration will be in the range of 540 - 970 ppm
